This pouch is made with durable 1000d Cordura, in three colours: olive drab, tan desert, black.
It has webbing all around the main compartment and on the front pocket for any personal configuration.
You can carry it in several ways: via shoulder (there are two d-ring for shoulder strap), belt, modular webbing and obviously inside your backpack!
This pouch is large enough to fit a 32 oz bottle (Nalgene, Guyot Design, Tatonka), but it’s not only designed to carry a bottle, if you search on the web you could find several samples of it’s configuration like this.
After some googling I decide to build this simple drinking and cooking kit, it’s only a possibility, but for me is very functional especially for a short hike.
Here the list.
Inside the main compartment:
- 32 ounce Nalgene water bottle with wide mouth – I like its transparency, to see water quality, when i found it from ‘unconventional’ site.
- Tatonka stainless steel handle mug for European area/ GSI for American area – i’ve find that this two brands produce the same model in these different areas.
- A Stainless steel spoon from my kitchen – an essential eating tool!
Inside the front pocket:
- Diy aluminium windscreen – i’ve made this object removing the base of an alumium drip pan.
- Teabags and in the same resealable bag you could also carry water purification tablets.
- A Bic lighter, and a vintage Esbit folding stove (inside the fuel tablets) – This is one of the smallest and cheapest solid fuel stoves for backpacking.
- Victorinox swiss army folding knife (mine an old Camper) – this multitool is a versatile instrument in the great outdoor.
I hope you have find this useful for your hikes. Enjoy!
Ciao! Mattia
I have one in desert tan/ coyote. It’s a good pouch, very handy.

and..Not too expensive, unlike others! I like your approach with the bike! I’m also a ‘saturday’ biker, I have two full mtb! Have you ever tried a 29″?

not that I wouldn’t mind getting into the 29’s, but they’re still a little pricey for me and a little ‘exotic’. A 26 inch, at the time, will be the easiest and cheapest thing to find and replace should a breakdown out in tim-buk-two occur. That’s the way I see it anyways.

You are right! 29’s are not so common! Ciao!

I’m hoping/waiting for 29’s to become more mainstream. Looks like it’ll be a whole though 🙂 At my current budget I’ll be doing good to upgrade to disc brakes

I love disc brakes, great performance in mud!

yep, exactly the reason to have them and they don’t wear out your rims.

and they are smaller when it comes to packing extra pads, and they just simply are more responsive. On the down side, if you’re dragging your bike up hill and hit that disc on a rock…well you know what I’m talking about.

I have the Pathfinder 32 oz. Bottle Cooking set. I try to make this kit as prepared as I can. I mean it’s my main source for food preparedness and making potable water. So keep particular things in it so if this kit is all I have in my person it would be all I would need.
It comes with a ferro rod but I keep a Bic lighter and 3 packs of moisture resistant matches. I plan to replace the plastic Light My Fire spoon/fork utensil with either a titanium one or a Case Hobo. I have an extra canteen cup in there. I also have an abrasive or “Brillo” pad to clean it and 2 bandanas. For carrying water I use a Camelbak Chute. I also think it’s a good idea to carry a little bag of dryer lint to help in case you really need a fire. You also gave the great idea to keep a Victorinox knife in the kit.
The great thing about a clear water bottle is that you can use the aluminum windshield and possibly solar-treat unpotable water if in the predicament you don’t have water tablets or or can start a fire or anything else to treat it.
